Need help with your metaphors, similes and analogies? Write down a bunch of nouns and put them in a hat. Now draw out two and come up with ways they're alike.
"John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met."

"The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn’t."

"He was as tall as a six-foot, three-inch tree."

"The young fighter had a hungry look, the kind you get from not eating for a while."

Can you come up with any metaphors, similes, or analogies better than these? Write as many as you can in five minutes, then take your favorite and expand on it.
